The ANU and most private networks are commonly attacked using a sophisticated method called Phishing. This involves sending an email out to users pretending to be from a legitimate organization, prompting them to login and change their passwords, recover their passwords etc. in order to gain legitimate accounts for nefarious purposes. ANU IT Security has been informed of a sophisticated attack, listed below, targeting staff and students to log into their ANU Web mail. This password links to a site that is not the ANU webmail server, although it looks like it, in order to get account information.
If you have logged into this site, please reset your password immediately through your local area support, Identity Manager https://identity.anu.edu.au/ or Ask ANU http://quicklink.anu.edu.au/wlzj.
